There has been a lot of criticism from Europe about President Obama’s plan for achieving a nuclear weapons free world, essentially because most columnists there think it wildly naive. This commentary from the Global Geographic Times of the People’s Republic of China, however, sees the idea as a way for America to extend its global dominance by denying the rest of the world any way to deter the United States, which has the most potent conventional military in history.
For China’s strictly state-controlled Global Geographic Times, columnist Wen Qiang, writes in part:
“What country in the world could possibly rival the United States in conventional weaponry – except through the use of nuclear weapons? … this so-called nuclear-free world being proposed by America is purely for the elimination of nuclear weapons in other countries, so that the U.S. can be the only game in town and continue its global hegemony. … Frankly speaking, our country’s combined national conventional forces are quite a limited deterrent compared to those of the United States. Even compared to European and other developed countries, we are at a disadvantage … Sooner or later, this American trick will be seen for what it is.”

Since the successful development of nuclear weapons by the United States, the world has been shrouded in nuclear terror. This was particularly true just after World War II, when the world was dumbfounded by the destructive power of the atomic bombs that the U.S. dropped on Japan. It is said that all nuclear weapons in current inventories are much more powerful than those two combined. Therefore, the nuclear weapons states have banded together to create groups to use their influence to inhibit the continuing spread of nuclear weapons. However, because of their own security, the very “deterrence” sought by the nuclear powers has created rising alarm among non-nuclear states – with more and more countries seeking these types of unconventional weapons. This is why Iran and North Korea are bent at all costs on developing nuclear weapons.

I'd really be concerned about Obama if China had said the opposite- that the Chinese liked Obama because they thought he would place their interests ahead of those of the US.
The Chinese are starting to sound like Republicans… “Obama's going to do this and that and he's the enemy we need to demonize in order to accomplish our agenda.”
Look, it's like the Chavez thing…the Chinese are scared that Obama is making democracy look good. Oligarchies [what China really is, not communism...that's only touted to keep the sheep in line] and dictatorships are viscerally threatened by an example that makes them look bad.
So Obama has to have this hidden scary agenda right? Only he doesn't. He really does care about the world and the people in it. So China has its propaganda machines in overdrive…so will all world leaders who know their citizens use the internet, can read and cipher what's what for themselves…I mean our Prez is really making these guys sweat under the collar just by being who he really is..lol…
