USAToday did some research and found that “three of the eight federal prosecutors ousted by the Justice Department as poor performers ranked in the top 10 for prosecutions and convictions by the nation’s 93 U.S. attorneys, an analysis of court records shows.”
Furthermore:
•In San Diego, where Lam had been accused of failing to pursue immigration prosecutions, the number of immigration-related cases dropped from 2,887 in 2004 to 1,715 in 2006.
The statistics showed, however, that immigration prosecutions — a top administration priority — accounted for the largest single crime category prosecuted during Lam’s tenure.
•In Arizona, Charlton filed 9,565 immigration cases in 2006, up from 2,234 four years earlier. According to the Justice Department, Charlton was removed for policy clashes with Justice officials.
•In Arkansas, where Cummins was dismissed, there were gains in virtually every major criminal offense category during the past five years.
