Were More Members Of Congress Than Harman Wiretapped By The Feds?

Were more members of Congress besides Rep. Jane Harman wiretapped by the feds? Via T Hill’s Blog’s Eric Zimmermann:

Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.) raised the possibility today that more members of Congress could have been wiretapped by the NSA or FBI.

Defending herself against reports that she was caught on tape offering to intervene in the espionage-related case of two former employees of the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), Harman said other members are worried that they were taped as well.

“And let’s see who else was wiretapped,” Harman told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer. “I mean lots of members of Congress talk to advocacy organizations. My phone is ringing off the hook in my office from worried members who are asking whether I think it could have happened to them. I think this is an abuse of power, Wolf.”

I find it "interesting" how fast Harman is working to spin the story away from her and her intervening in the AIPAC matter towards her larger concern troll that others may also have been wiretapped. Kinda awkward when all this wiretappy stuff gets close & personal all of a sudden, eh?

Surprising we aren't hearing a bit more about this, now that Pelosi all of a sudden remembers

  • She is certainly aggressively denying this, including the call for transcripts to be made public. Either it's a hell of a bluff or she's pretty sure she didn't incriminate herself. There will be lots of eggy faces on the right if she turns out to be innocent. Just as there are on the left over Ted Stevens.
