I found myself asking the question, what about after the Civil War?

Because reconstruction was ended so early, Southerners were allowed to treat African Americans like vermin for another century.

Funny how punishing war criminals is now "retribution". Guess we should all apologize to the Nazis we sentenced to death at Nuremberg. I guess we should open the doors of the American prisons. We need to look to the future after all. Looking into the past and punishing people for crimes like murder and theft would be "revenge".

Keith Olbermann didn't understand the “stay tuned” part of Obama's announcement. However, anyone viewing politics long enough with nose not pressed right up against the glass can see the wider vista. I like Keith, his heart is in the right place. He just jumped the gun on something that hasn't quite taken full shape yet..
