Our political Quote of the Day is by Texas state Rep. Jim Dunnam of Waco, talking about Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s comment that if it gets bad enough (meaning the way Perry and some Republicans don’t want) the state of Texas can secede from the United States:
“We all knew he wanted to be president. I just didn’t know it was president of the Republic of Texas,” he said to chuckles from onlookers.
It seems silly at first glance but some powerful families in Texas have never gotten over being forced to be part of the Union. It really is big enough to be its own country.
They'll probably want to keep trading with us and likely will ask for military protection if the going gets rough with Venuzuela or another foreign entity. Their main export will be oil of course, and good range beef. BBQ for sure….lol..
It isn't just Texas. Montana recently passed a gun law protecting their State sovereignity, Oklahoma just had both houses pass a bill declaring their10th Ammendment rights, South Dakota and Idaho have already passed such, and similar resolutions are before the majority of the States. The Gergia Senate may have gone furthest and passed a bill granting among other things nullification power to the State if the federal government excedes its authority and intrudes on the liberties of Geogia citizens or the 10th Ammendment rights of the State, the vore was 43 to 1 in favor. This is a growing movement, and not just in the South.
10th amendment rights are rights not explicitly given to the federal government are reserved for the states.
Our federal government is becoming our enemy. They are taking more and more and more until we will become communist. A one party state with the federal government doing everything for us.
Stop this madness. States are seeing the direction our nation is heading and making proclamations. Our young children didnt grow up under the USSR and see its harsh realities on tv everynight. If the USSR was still around there would be no desire to even remotely broach the subject.
Abscense makes the heart grow fonder.
