This is supposed to be big news? Give me a break. We survived without the internet for many many years. This is very LOW on my list of worries, actually it's not even on my list.

You are correct about cyber-security. The vast majority of users, especially here in the US, blissfully think that their Norton (or whatever) is keeping them safe. HA.

My son's best friend works for the Air Force and with the NSA on some of their initiatives, and obviously I cannot go onto any kind of detail, but it is so much worse than even some of the supposedly shrillest voices say. We are WAY behind the Chinese, Japanese. Russians, Indians, etc.

They see the US as either a testing ground for their 'simpler' stuff before they really go after hard targets (each other), or frankly just screw with our networks to send a message.

Remember, AR, current theory holds that the matter that our universe consists of is probably only the fractional remainder of what existed at the very beginning of the universe. No one knows why it was matter that survived instead of antimatter or if it was more like a coin toss. So….would the condensate be possibly right-of-center or left-of-center? Or maybe a clone of Jon Stewart?

T-Steel is unfortunately correct. (Warning: Geek Speak Ahead) Look at what a mediocre DDOS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack on the DNS servers of Road Runner accomplished recently. Then there was another DDOS attack on a company called UltraDNS that affected performance for Amazon, Salesforce.com and petco.com. The harsh truth is that computer security for all is affected by individual computer security and knowledge, which is sadly lacking.

So, I guess I remember incorrectly all the speculation that Bush was going to declare martial law and refuse to give up the Presidency at the end of his term?

Or those who seriously claimed that hurricane damage is controlled from the Bush White House and is routinely directed towards areas of lower income / high minority population?

Or the 'truthers' that claim 9-11 was conducted as a Machiavellian plot by Bush/Cheney?

Or that passed laws to have Bush arrested for war crimes and impeached in Vermont?

Or claiming that Bernie Ward was only charged with possession of child pornography because he critisized Bush?

Or made on-line games where to goal was to kill Bush, or the 'Kill Bush products sold online?

And so on?

A Cybersecurity Advisory office is a good idea but it should be just that, something that provides advice, coordination and speaks with the private sector on ways to enhance our nation's cybersecurity with their help.

It's a redundant question. The CIA will do whatever it deems necessary to protect the nation anyway. Circumventing the Constitution and law is old hat to them (obviously). We would never even know and likely be told the blackout was caused by a solar flare or some such.

Hope and change people, hope and change. Good thing our new President doesn't have any tendencies towards trampling on our freedoms like the Evil BushHitler and the Devil Himself Dick Cheney. Nope, he is just a humble servant devoted to His People. And all he He asks in return is unquestioned, unfettered power, the right to train our youth in mandatory volunteer programs, and to run the private and public sectors of the economy. Seems like a fair trade.
