		<description>The systems aren&#039;t radically different, I don&#039;t think. Both are based on a roughly adversarial position. Police and prosecutors rely on the defense to find systemic balance (and the defense relies upon the prosecution for their balance). Reviewers also take a rather adversarial position as their task is to try to rip up a paper so that what&#039;s left standing is decently good. The difference is that the scientific outlook is rather individualistic, while the legal one is team-based.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Scientists also might have more faith that the good will get through, and so have less trouble smashing one another, since it will all work out. My guess is that a lot of prosecutors and police don&#039;t have any such faith in the judicial system.</description>
