I'm skeptical of the idea that there was ever “majesty” in the office of the Presidency, and such a notion would be truly undemocratic.

But, for sake of argument, let's say there was a grandness to Presidency. There is no way in hell that it has survived Bush's war/torture fest, Clinton's sex scandal, Reagan's weapons sale to the Iranians and Watergate.

Whatever the case may be, a politician submitting himself for an interview on a highly rated (and respected talk show) is hardly grounds for outrage. It's not like he's going on Wheel of Fortune or QVC.
