Later this afternoon, at 4 pm eastern, stop by the Movie Addict Headquarters radio show for an interview with John P. McCarthy and a rundown of the best Irish themed movies of all time. What are some of your picks for the best Irish themed films?
See you on the radio!
I'm not Irish (at all, just German and Danish), but I must say I rather liked The Wind That Shakes the Barley. It takes place during the Irish rebellion against the British, and the ensuing Irish Civil War. As a plus, it's a film recommended by counterinsurgency experts, so you get both a film that won the Palme d'Or at Cannes, and a film that can have relevance to issues we deal with today. Win-win.
The Quiet Man – John Ford, Maureen O'Hara, John Wayne, Ireland (sort of) – the sentimental favorite.
Or any movie with Colm Meaney in it not in outer space.
