Former President Bill Clinton, in an interview with CNN, predicted the GOP may eventually feel it has to deal with President Barack Obama if economic progress kicks in — and that the public will give Obama about a year for signs of improvement:
Within a year campaign 2010 — where all the House seats will be up for re-election — will be going full blast (it could be argued it is now going…blast). So the key thing to watch will be all economic indicators plus whether Obama will indeed prove to be the masterful communicator many thought he would be. If the public doesn’t see signs of improvement will they stick with him and the Democrats? Or will they try the Republicans again? Or will George Bush have done to the Republicans for an election cycle or two what Herbert Hoover did to them in the 1930s and 40s?
A little thought just roamed into my mind. I wonder if the GOP would stoop to sabotaging any momentum of recovery under Obama in order to preserve its numbers?
Nah…
?
When our nation teeters on the brink of a national security crises…that would be clearly and concisely the definition of treason. They would never…

“I wonder if the GOP would stoop to sabotaging any momentum of recovery under Obama in order to preserve its numbers?”
It's something to watch for if and when there is eventual recovery. A cheaper bonus the GOP enjoys from its stance on this ugly bill (far from what so much of the public views or wants for “stimulus”) is that it's already set to pounce on and exploit any failure to recover or any instance of things getting worse.
The GOP really cant do anything.
Nanny Pelosi locked them out of the House. They are meaningless for the rules that were passed for this years legislative session.
In the Senate they only need 1 or 2 republicans to cross over and give the Democrats anything they want. I think they will do that. Each thing that comes up for a vote the gop will kindly offer up a scape goat and let the democrats enjoy their victories. They will let them do stem cell, Abortion, gay marriage…..whatever pleases them and then set back and let the results work its way thru the system.
I dont really think the GOP is gunning for 2010. I think 2012 is the target because honestly its gonna take the Dems to mess in their lunch kit before the GOP will really be rewarded with a resurgence of faith and trust by an American public that will most likely find what the Democrats do as revolting.
Obama has already brought out the IOU's and is fixing to reward the social fringe with their darling projects. Stem cell research and Gays in the military. Thats okay. Its their right. The public voted them into office and I say let them go for it. Who knows they may have been right all these years and they will create nirvana in America and around the world.
I hope they do. I could use some less stressful times.
You don't think the GOP is hunting seats in the House in 2010? Now I know you're up to something… “Green…schemes…”
*its gonna take the Dems to mess in their lunch kit before the GOP will really be rewarded with a resurgence of faith and trust by an American public that will most likely find what the Democrats do as revolting.*
Is that why you folks divorced yourselves from the Bill? Really, a kindergartener could see that the Dems are committing suicide with so much liberal pork. Too bad Obama and Pelosi can't look 12 months ahead like the GOP can…
Well Rush Limbaugh said he wanted this adminstration to fail. The thing with democrats is they're so busy being touchy-feeling and pleasing everyone that they'll blow this crucial juncture and the GOP will 'have to come to the rescue” from panic in 2010. It's a shoe-in.
Dems beware…..don't sign that Bill, Obama. Not without returning it for a trim job and reassignment of priority funding! AGgghhh…24 hours from now will be the point of no return. Are any GOP smiling like crocodiles? Red flag if they are…
Again, what rule change are you referring to greenschemes? For being “blocked out” of the House debate they certainly offered up a lot of amendments.
The Republicans realize that there is no long term prospects for their party. They killed themselves with open borders, pork barrel spending, and wanting to increase the nanny state.
It does not matter how badly President Obama performs. He will get 95% of the black vote 80% of the Hispanic vote and 80% of the vote from Manhattan, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Does anyone really think that if the African-American unemployment rate goes to 50% that one less black person will not vote for President Obama during his reelection.
The Democrats have has their wishes fulfilled with a massive increase in government spending, and a massive increase in entitlements. All that is left is to raise taxes on the upper middle classes to pay for it and there plan will be complete.
Its called the motion to recommit. The most contentious rule change places new restrictions on motions to “recommit” a bill for new amendments to the committee that approved it. In practice, that motion often meant a lengthy or even permanent delay in passing the measure. Motions to recommit would still be possible, but the new rules allow the full House to reconsider the bill almost instantaneously.
Essentially making the Democrats vote to override every objection the GOP offers up immediately and further closing off the process of transparency in congress. There is a reason in these trying times that we take our time and are sure its what we want to do. Nanny Gal just ended that transparency.
Speaking of Bill Clinton:
It is opined that Bill Clinton committed racist hate crimes, and I am not free to say anything further about it.
