Republicans in NY better scrutinize Lazio's history as an ineffective Member of Congress and lobbyist. Widely regarded as a lightweight in banking circles, he was unceremoniously removed from his job as head of government relations for a major bank because he commanded the respect of absolutely no one-- not Republicans, not Democrats and certainly not Wall St. Apparently he has been "parked" in asset management at that bank---widely regarded to have the smartest management on Wall St.---while his contract runs out.

I think Republicans would be wise to pick someone like Rick to at least lead them. Rick was my congressman as well. If it wasn't for the senate race he would have held his seat. With that said, hopefully the Republicans won't wise up and they'll leave everything as is.

I think Lazio would be a great choice for the GOP. He was a great congressman for the 1st congressional district. As a 'disgruntled' Republican he really struck a chord with me not only about present NY democrats, but more importantly about the current GOP status quo. This type of leadership is missed.

I think Lazio would be great in Albany. It's easy to find guys to speak up when all is going well, but now that the chips are down for the Republican party he seems to be a voice rallying everyone together....the sign of a true leader.
