Most of the folks down here I encounter just want some help, be it stimulus bill or not. Many people aren't going to research the stimulus bill line by line. They hear "stimulus" and "create jobs" and that's good enough for them. So there is this disconnect between those "in the know" and those "not in the know".

T-Steel - I think those comments also reflect the region. Here in NEOhio, where we know we're heading to double digit unemployment, I really don't know that the PTA would reflect the same sentiments. While none of us (well, no one I know), really WANTS this bill, the hurting is just awful here.

Not a great post from Ed Morrissey, but I think it's unfair to critique his whole body of work on this. He was making the point that the fearmongering atmosphere is a problem, and although you can't tell from this one post, it's not as though he's actually arguing that the problems are only psychological.

Morrissey ignores the fact that the reason those indicators are up is the assumption that the stimulus bill will be passed in the next few days. He's completed his transformation into delusional fool.

What do they put in the water over there at Hot Air. I remember when Ed Morrissey used to be good. Even the most sanguine of the realistic economic observers <a href="http://blogs.cfr.org/setser/2009/02/06/more-to-worry-about-the-us-downturn-is-getting-worse-when-it-should-be-getting-better/" rel="nofollow">is getting more worried.</a>
