elrod,

It is hard to argue that the left is any less authoritarian than the right. Considering that universities are some of the hardest left places in the U.S. and have some of the most authoritarian leanings. Remember the forced reeducation at the University of Delaware? Remember the speech codes that are blatantly unconsitutional? Remember the University of Michigan being told that it cannot discriminated on the bases of race?

Well, I should expect political conservatives not to be big fans of Obama. Conservatives are, by and large, authoritarians who are unhappy that Obama has restored the rule of law to Washington and the primacy of the Constitution over the White House. The only conservative to remember Constitutional principles is Andrew Sullivan, and conservatives think he's a liberal for opposing Bush's excess.

With President Obama in office, Rush Limbo has a job for 4 more years and Limbo will be slobbering Machiavellian half-truths faster than you can say Bill O'Riley.

I find that polls tell us what people feel about an issue, they don't tell us what truths, or untruths, are behind these feelings.

Considering the week long love-fest that the media has had with President Obama, I am surpirsed that it is not higher. Of course, considering that President Obama has not actually done anything yet, how can anyone be made. Also, if President Obama does have a failure, will the MSM actually have the nerve to mention it?

Don't forget Bushco (the administration that Obama's has just replaced under the umbrella of change) went out at something like a dismal 20% approval rating.

Certainly when tweaking the numbers as is always done depending on who is doing the polling, you'd have to mitigate with the 20% issue..; )
