I figured someone would say sooner or later that this would mean he isn't really the President. But I'm more surprised that there hasn't been a howl on the Left that this was a right-wing conspiracy to discredit or just play a mean trick on Obama. Don't worry. Celeb Princess Di flubbed her lines a bit at her wedding, and celeb Barack Obama flubbed his lines a bit at his big occasion. No biggie.

As it is, the lefties, were they to use their brains (where are they?), they would be able to have a laugh (if their derangement didn't move them to engage in excess, again) here, about the line-flubbing. Because who really did the flubbing? It was the Chief Justice, that is, a selection for the job by Bush, master of the dyslexicon. Yes, this dyslexic blunder of administering the oath of office to the new President by the Chief Justice was actually, technically, the last part of the Bush legacy.

Austin, over what does what take precedence? Sorry for the snark, I see this malapropism everywhere; you mean that there are precedentsfor retaking the oath.

Joe, it's no surprise to see that Media Matters has no sense of humor, but I would have thought that you'd know a joke when you saw it. The transcript may not reflect it, but the way it was said seemed jocular to me.

OK, I too thought it was ridiculous of those saying he should re-take the oath, until I read the "just as two previous presidents, Calvin Coolidge and Chester Arthur, did under similar circumstances" part.

So, now there is not only the explicit Constitutional language issue, but even two cases of precedence of retaking the oath. As it hurts nothing, why not re-take it? It certainly would stop the chattering.
