Sarah Palin Hates Us

Bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie annoy me,

she told Esquire, in yet another of her post-election blame-everyone-else-but-me sessions.

It is Andrew Sullivan who has been all over the is-she-really-Trig’s-mom story — like the rest of us, he just wants the truth, and Palin has been nothing if not sketchy about the whole affair (hence the lingering suspicions) — but I for one, if I may defend myself, am not an anonymous blogger (that’s my real name up there) and do not think of myself as a bored, pathetic liar.

Now, I’m sure some people find me pathetic, as I do myself from time to time (don’t we all?), and I suppose I get bored as well, but not all that often (not with a good job, a loving wife, two kids, and an avid interest in the world around me), and no doubt some people (i.e., those who disagree with me) think I’m a liar. So that’s maybe — what? — two out of four, assuming that Palin would find me pathetic and a liar? So I suppose, if Palin knew of me, and I suspect she doesn’t (I’m sure she didn’t read my Guardian piece on her and Thatcher), I’d annoy her just like all the truly bored, truly pathetic, truly dishonest, and truly anonymous bloggers out there. I’m just not sure to whom she’s referring. Certainly none of my blog friends/acquaintances are like that.

Really, though, she’s not referring to anyone. She’s just attacking bloggers generally. Just like she thinks we all live in our parents’ basements, so does she think that we’re all bored and pathetic (and anonymous?), a bunch of liars. It’s just her way of lashing out at her critics, at anyone who dares question her. (I’m sure she’s fine with the many bloggers on the right who helped make her what she became, who drooled all over her and who long for her to lead them to the promised land of conservative bliss — God, guns, and a whole lotta drilling.) She avoided — or was kept away from — the media during the campaign, but now she’s a media manipulator herself, using various friendly media outlets on the right, as well as more mainstream outlets, to spew her spin and promote her cause, namely, herself.

As long as the media still bother to put a camera and microphone in front of her, enabling her and keeping her in the public eye long past her expiry date, we’ll have to put up with this sort of nonsense. And while we’re talking about lying, it’s Palin herself who’s full of dishonesty, as when she attacks the Anchorage Daily News for probing (and questioning) her maternity, an attack without basis in reality. But, then, so much of what Palin says and does is without basis in reality, and, in her eternal quest for victimhood (they’re all against me!), she’s apparently willing to make any claim, however fraudulent.

Some bloggers, perhaps, are worthless little you-know-whats, but, from what I know, the vast majority of them, and certainly of the ones that matter (in the liberal, progressive blogosphere, at least), are smart, sensible people who seek and speak the truth. Far be it from Sarah Palin, in all her self-absorbed cluelessness, with all her dim-witted hatred, to get us right.

  • My favorite line from your Guardian article, sums up Palin as "the voice of uneducated, anti-intellectual provincialism." In a nutshell.

If Palin hates bloggers then bloggers must be doing something right.

Looks to me like she struck a nerve. Or, as Archie Bunker would say, "if the shoe fits, put it on and kick yourself with it".

Over here in non-"real America," it's actually a pleasure not to have to visualize her red power-suits and bigger-than-Jesus crowd revivals--all that's lacking is the big tent.

More power to bloggers. Perhaps it is the bloggers who ultimately helped in her downfall, perhaps she didn't need any help at all in that capacity.
  • I know that I certainly spend all my time writing ONLY to annoy Sarah Palin. I mean finding the time between raising my daughter, taking care of my home, volunteering at a local school, studying for the LSATs, and other miscellaneous tasks to piss of Palin just makes my life complete. Someone should remind her that SHE isn't the center of the universe.

"and Palin has been nothing if not sketchy about the whole affair "

This is a good example of the absurd BS that people should complain about. Hospital records, statements from everyone including the doctor that delivered Trig, and muckraking for 6 months and Palin id "being sketchy"? It's foil hat time except I don't think even 1 in 10 of the idiots repeating the crap believe there is anything there. Just acting like monkey throwing feces. And of course the vague , factless, I hate Palin articles do so much to make your case for being " smart, sensible people who seek and speak the truth". Yep shes totally off base, no one just pokes at her for fun and as an expression of venom and bile.

The continual assault on Sarah Palin long after the election is over and done with is qute obvious to me a fear of her position and a genuine attempt to discredit her and smear her in an attempt to cut off any potential Political rise to stardom in the GOP by her opponents.

Its becoming increasingly obvious that politico junkies despise women with the voracity that the KKK used to hate the Black segment of our society. This time the woman just happens to be a GOP potential rising star. However before her the ambush and bushwhacking was for Hillary Clinton. No side. No party is immune to this woman bashing and I find it interesting that the assault on her name and reputation appears to be coming from named Bloggers with a horde of anonymous followers who can berate and go back to their Archie Bunker Home.

Interesting. The challenges women face appear no less daunting then the one Obama faced. Perhaps one day they too can have "A dream."

Oh poor Sarah, she is ANNOYED by bloggers, Katie Couric ANNOYS , oh, she is just so annoyed .
....guess what, Sarah, YOU annoy me.
---and there aren´t any ANONYMOUS BLOGGERS...she is erroneously calling DIARISTS as bloggers. We are diarists. The average guy who reads the articles and COMMENTS at the end and can say whatever we want because it´s a free country.
I think THE PEOPLE have every right to wonder and inquire about Palin and her family members because ALL OF THEM were on the stage asking to be the SECOND family of the United States. Yes, I guess we were wondering about the family she trotted out like props at every opportunity.

    Greenschemes,
I like Hillary and I like Caroline and many women...Fey and Couric, too. I donñt know should I list woman I respect to prove a point?
No, it´s not Palin´s gender. It´s a person trying to pass themselves off as PRESIDENTIAL, when they are both ignorant AND arrogant. Yes, that is what I want in a VP or president....that will help.
Palin has set women back...she has done much damage already and is out doing more daily. She has made us ridiculous and I resent it.
You hire the best person for a job, it does not mean you are AFRAID of the ones you rejected for the job, it also means they wonñt get a good recomendation. That´s the way it goes.
