I saw a piece earlier today that used the term 'Politcal Theater'. How apt is that? With the Senate race debacle in MN, the sale of the Senate seat in IL, and now the rules being changed in the House of Representatives, a new era in the U.S. political soap opera begins. It is sure to be entertaining. Not being a historian, I wonder of a President has ever entered office through such a political fecal storm? Oh yeah, there's that other little nagging issue, the potential collapse of our economy. Stay tuned for one action packed episode after another...

Haha you think at some point people would realize that this isn't "corruption" this is how the political system works. Blagojevich/Stevens/Jefferson stood out because they were receiving tangible things for themselves on the side. But once you start getting into contributing to foundations/campaigns/wining and dining, everyone does it. I can't get too worked up about the accusations against Richardson because those are very common for the course.

Whether that means the political system is broken in general is a different discussion. Although one I think we're at right now; while the Republicans and Democrats think they are scoring political points in these matters, I think we're to the point where it just undermines faith in our governance generally. With Congressional ratings where they are, it's not like partisanship is really working.
