I learned that about Republicans, when they defended people like Alberto Gonzales and Lurita Doan during last year's congressional hearings. Therefore, I was not surprised when they kept insisting that Palin was a qualified pick for VP. It all goes back to Reagan's 11th commandment— never criticize a fellow Republican. I agree that Jeb would not be as big of a disaster as George, but one thing I learned about the Republicans this election season is that they stick together and demand loyalty above all else. I mean, come on- Palin as VP? The GOP was behind her from the get-go even when they knew nothing about her. And the more we learned, whether it was her own scandals or her own (and husband's) successionist views and support of the AIP just a few months prior, the GOP still thought she was the best thing since white bread. And any Republican, no matter how highly regarded they may be, was banished if they dared to speak up against anything that was not the party line. Jeb may be better, but we don't need anyone who believes that loyalty trumps experience, good judgement or independent thought. kritt, Happy New Year! The General rose through the ranks of the Brotherhood of the Donkey quickly and was groomed to become a stout King's Advisor but seized power for himself from Lady Clinton, who had hoped to become regent after her husband, the late King, had expired from Scorn.<br><br>That was fun to write.
