“Magic Negro”—What Will Limbaugh Say?

While this weekend’s firestorm over the crude and offensive “Barack the Magic Negro” so-called parody centered on RNC’s top office candidate Chip Saltsman, the person who proudly introduced this crap to Americans was none other than His Conservative Majesty (HCM) Rush Limbaugh—previously a.k.a. the “role model for America’s youth.”

As such it will be interesting to hear how HCM reacts today to the outrage over his “innocent, light-hearted, well-intended, good-humored, satiric” vulgarity.

I have no idea whether the man with talent on loan from God-d will be taking to his broadcast throne today and, if so, whether he will be making an Address to the Nation on this issue or not.

But, let me take a chance and try to predict what HCM may say, if and when he faces the EIB microphone. There are a few possibilities—one never knows how a man with so much talent on loan will handle such a situation. So, in order of increasing probability:

1. Rush will apologize for such disrespect, bigotry and/or “mis-use” of his parody.

2. Rush will not say a word about it

3. Rush will put the so-called parody in so-called context.

4. Rush will:

* Vigorously defend the parody, Shanklin, Saltsman, all those who have defended the indefensible, and of course himself.

* Vigorously attack those losers who have objected to the parody, including bleeding-heart Liberals, the drive-by media, the blogosphere, RNC’s Mike Duncan, Newt Gingrich and other “spineless” Conservatives.

* Probably even play the so-called parody, just for good measure and just to demonstrate how innocent, light-hearted and in good taste it is—and just to demonstrate that HCM answers to no one.

My cup of coffee bet is on the latter, #4.

And the millions of ditto-heads will love him and cheer him on, and the cash will keep flowing in, and Limbaugh and Shanklin will come up with many more innocent, light-hearted parodies about our next President, and all will be well again, now that HCM has explained it all.

Have you even listened to the song or read the article that prompted it? If you have, try one more time.

This song is not meant to insult blacks in general or Mr. Obama in particular. It is meant to be insulting to white liberals – Rush's main target of derision – it appears to have been very effective in that regard.

Yes, I have listened to the racial parody—too many times. And yeas, I have heard and read Rush's and others' tortuous subterfuges to deflect the truth, and I don't believe any of it

  3. PWT says:

Not those articles, this article (which spawned the song parody):

  4. D. E.Rodriguez says:

Again, “And yes, I have heard and read Rush's and others' tortuous subterfuges to deflect the truth, and I don't believe any of it”

Tell me something PWT: Why do you think Mr. Saltsman included that parody (and Star Spanglished banner, etc.) in his CD sent to his RNC cohorts? To make the Republican party more inclusive? To mend fences with minorities? To attract more minorities to the Republican “BIG tent?” To honor our next President? To celebrate the fact that we have the first African-American president?

  5. Jim_Satterfield says:

Oh, come on Dorian. You know that PWT is one of the true believers and buys into the entire program. I think his posts here have made that abundantly clear. He is one of the people it's aimed at.

  6. D. E.Rodriguez says:

I am told that HCM did not perform today, but that his mouthpiece–whoever he or she was–pretty much stuck to reaction # 4 for Limbaugh, perhaps with the exception of playing the parody.

    Where's my cup of coffee?

  7. Jim_Satterfield says:

I could have told you that much more than a cup of coffee would be a safe bet. It's so predictable.

  8. D. E.Rodriguez says:

You're right, Jim. I should have bet the farm on this, i.e. thrown in a Krispy Kream donut with the coffee
