Joe - This unfortunate episode brings out the worst in both sides. Hamas crys for revenge against Jews and the people I been talking with in Israel for the past couple days want to kill every single Palestinian on Earth. I am a life long Conservative Jew and I cannot believe the people I hear talking are of the same Faith. Israel today reminds of the British in the 1930's and 40's. They kept killing those nasty terrorists from Irgun etc (though not my Grandfather) in hopes of "teaching them a lesson". But those Jews were fighting for a homeland and would not be deterred - neither will the Palestinians. The Brits finally gave up in the face of Jewish resistence and the Palestinians obviously hope for the same. It won't happen so both sides should get on with negotiating an agreement that is FAIR. I know from listening to talks from various Israeli cabinet menbers that Israel hopes to have overwheming dominance in any final agreement including control over ALL ingress and egress to Palestinian territories. That is NOT statehood and until Israel is willing to let the Palestinians have a true state the violence will continue.
In the meantime it would be helpful if Jews not become vengeful animals like many of the Palestinians. Holly - are you listening?
