I think he should have fought back, but he really didn't have the verbal skills to articulate his positions such as Clinton, who was probably a bigger and worse fraud than GWB, possessed to defend his policies and yak his way out of his unpopularity. Of course, the MSM has lost any sense of journalistic ethics and is now an adjunct of the DNC, so GWB never had a chance to air his views even if he were an Obama/BillyJeff.
