Kennedy / Palin: Same Coin, Different Sides

59044_600.jpg

From the “Are You Kidding Me File?” The left is taking offense that the appointment of Caroline Kennedy is being connected to the failed experiment of the Sarah Palin candidacy. To my friends on the left, I have to say… it really hurts when you are called out on the inexperienced candidacy card. Most of my readers know that I never swallowed the Hillary had more experience than Obama mantra because she was the First Lady of Arkansas and during Bill’s presidency. However, there is one important difference between Senator (soon to be Secretary of State) Clinton and Kennedy; Hillary was an adult when she lived in the White House.

The piece by Charles Krauthammer gave me a chuckle. The idea that the United States Senate is not already a House of Lords is ludicrous. You either have to be a multi-millionaire (Corzine), a career politician (Cardin), or have a famous last name (Clinton) to even get into the club. However, this may be the first time that a person is appointed to the United States Senate solely based on family lineage.

There is one big difference between Caroline Kennedy and Sarah Palin. Palin, at least, was elected in a statewide election. Liberals were up in arms regarding the non-vetting of Sarah Palin to be Vice-President of the United States. The hypocrisy of their turning a blind eye to Kennedy’s lack of experience is shameful.

Apples and oranges, Tony. Kennedy isn't going to be a heart attack/car accident/bullet away from POTUS as Palin would have been. There's plenty of room to criticize the Kennedy furor; none of it has anything to do with Sarah Palin. You're reaching.

The difference between vice-president under a president as old and with as many health problems as McCain and a freshman senator is vast in our system.

There is a big difference between junior Senator and VP. Now if Obamama placed Caroline as his VP, then it would be apples and apples. Let's hope Princess Caroline does as good as Mary Bono. If a skiing accident can give us Bono, let the NY voters say yea or nay on Princess.

Agree with Jim S-- and think Palin might be OK as a freshman Senator--just not as VP. She had more minuses than pluses, particularly her unresolved ethics problems, and tendency to appoint unqualified friendly supporters. To me, she was W in lipstick.
