I think its more interesting to take a glance at the runners up: Hank Paulson, Nicolas Sarkozy, Sarah Palin, and Zhang Yimou.  If any one of these four beat out Obama there would be riots on the streets for sure.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I&#039;m not so sure how meaningful such an &quot;honor&quot; this actually is. I looked through TIME&#039;s archives and noticed that Bush got the person of the year twice, in 2000 and 2004. Interesting about 2004, the subtitle says &quot;American Revolutionary&quot; and they chose him &quot;For sticking to his guns (literally and figuratively), for reshaping the rules of politics to fit his ten-gallon-hat leadership style...&quot;  Not sure what that ten-gallon-hat leadership style means...</description>
