I totally agree with jchem on the "ouch!" but I do have to give you props for going through that for body art. I'm also among the 26-40 crowd with no ink, and at this point I kind of wish I had gotten some tats while I was young and stupid enough to do so. I always thought the whole idea of getting something that "means" something to you was a little off base -- I think I'd rather have something that's just beautiful; if it has some deeper symbolism, great, but I've seen so many ugly tattoos that meant something terribly important to the wearer at the time, but if that meaning wears off with time, wouldn't it be better to have something aesthetically pleasing? Anyway, I went the piercing route instead. I've still got about 10 in my ears, plus one in my bellybutton. That's down about 4 since the good ol' days.

Jazz, "It was put in by hand using a needle and thread, “sewing” it into the skin"<br><br>Ouch!! The thought alone makes me shudder. I am one of the 60% of the 26 to 40 crowd not inked. I don't think I've ever had any interest in tattoos, perhaps due to the whole permanent nature of them. I tried to dye my hair, but it's naturally pretty dark, so the end result was an orange mop. I did have a ring through my eye-brow during my younger but couldn't keep it since it wouldn't give a great first impression on the interview circuit, especially for an academic job.
