McCain and Gingrich are right. The RNC is so petty. President-elect Obama should be given a chance.

I find it a bit ironic that McCain is out there leading the criticism of his own party for their negativity. On the campaign trail, this guy ran quite possibly the most negative campaign on record. He lost; perhaps he learned his lesson. But in nominating him, the Republicans tried to move to the center, didn't they? Wasn't McCain supposed to be some sort of moderate Republican who ticked off his own party? He went pandering after the Repub base to try to win, to the disdain of many of the moderates who supported him. I cannot even count how many times I've read comments on this site to the tune of "If he would be running as the old McCain, I would be supporting him" or "I supported the McCain of 2000, but not this time around".

If this is the medicine that is supposed to bring the Repubs up out of the ashes, then why couldn't McCain practice during his campaign what he has always tried to preach? It seems to me, he misses his love affair with the media and his past persona as a moderate. He may not like it, but he lost. He's no longer the standard bearer of the party, and for that matter I'm not sure the party has one.
