I criticized McCain quite a bit during the campaign, so now I must comment that since the election he has been a class act, and that is quite unusual in uberpartisan DC. I'm sure the RNC is quite peeved with him at the moment for not jumping on the bandwagon.

This is me beating my forehead against the desk.

Fitzgerald has ASKED that the Obama team not release any details, but meanwhile, journalists and pundits are quibbling over the finest possible parsing of what they have said so far. And the big excuse for this hysteria is that releasing the details 3 whole days before Christmas means that the whole topic will be successfully rendered invisible.

Bull pucky. Massive, steaming piles of bull pucky. The press is flighty and bored and thinks the whole topic of pleasepleasepleaseGodpleaseIreallyreallywantthisforChristmas Presidential SCANDAL is worth beating into the ground no matter when it occurs.

So stop blaming the damn RNC for doing what the damn RNC does. It's the endless bloviation by a bored and facile media that is making this story an issue.

Well, yes, that makes it OK, and completely understandable now.

I am sure of any other random politician, after first stating that neither them self or any member of their staff had any communications in a crooked deal; um wait, they meant the politician didn't have any direct communication and it does not appear any staffer had any communications; um wait again, OK, maybe the politician's closest advisory did have some communications, and possibly discussed the politician's preferences, but in no, no, no way was anything inappropriate discussed, because we have reviewed it internally and can say that now, but you have to take our word for it, because admitting exactly what was said would be premature and hurt the investigation, even though any conversations that may or may not have occurred have also been captured on a wiretap already. But great news! We can tell you something, sometime around, um, Christmas!

That cover it? I miss anything?

Why, of course we would believe ANY politician under these circumstances, and only twisted, demented hate-mongers could possibly find any of this explanation questionable.
