"Why was Bush not denied the second stint in the White House?"

In 2004, Americans didn't have the low opinion they now have of him.

In 2004, the Democratic Party ran a weak candidate against Bush.

I thought that a majority of Americans supported President Bush during most of his tenure. They shared his enthusiasm in demolishing a government in Iraq and humiliating its leader.

The media reveled in portraying Bush as a knight in the shining armour curing the world of its ills. And to think that the very same "great" leader has been turned into a caricature by the very same majority who gave him two terms in office.

But all this is more a reflection on the American media and the majority of people than poor Bush. You don't expect one leader to solve world's complex problems.

Why was Bush not denied the second stint in the White House? Is it because the hysterical media and the public had lost the power of reasoning?

It is not just President Bush tasting a shoe. Many, many others would be ducking shoes, and worse, in coming days. This is divine justice...I suppose!!!

I have just watched Bush's reaction to the "shoe incident. Apparently the poor soul has no clue as to the cultural significance of--in Arab countries-- showing the bottom of your feet, showing the soles of your shoes, waving shoes at someone, hammering something (like Sadam Hussein's statue) or someone with your shoes, or--as just happened--hurling not one, but two shoes at somone....while calling him a dog!!!

That's what you should expect when you "liberate" 50 million people without their permission.

I read somewhere that they wished Bush had been as quick and adept at handling our nation's business as he was at ducking tose size 10 shoes.

Dorian

P.S. I am also told that this is a form of expression/speech in Arab countries...not a very nice one, but one nevertheless.
