The fact is, the Detroit automaker model has been a fundamentally failed model for thirty years. The modern automobile industry in the USA has existed for ages, in the form of foreign-firm "transplants." How hard is it (it should be laughably easy) for people to grasp or to admit? (That includes people in Detroit like the automakers' management and the UAW's Gettelfinger.)<br><br>Nobody with any self-respect will be happy about providing any federal support to these failed-model companies.
