This comes from the Tao Te Ching chapter 50. . . in modernity the predators have changed places. . .one can flip this one several ways and find irony. . .

Death enters man. . .
The limits of man:
Thirty years of growth;
Thirty years of decay;
Thirty years in between;
So death and life reproduce themselves.

He who would prolong his life
Will not meet tigers or rhinoceros in the wilds,
Nor soldiers in battle
So the rhinoceros finds no place in him for its horn,
The tiger no place for its claw,
The soldier no place for a weapon;
So death finds no place to enter his life.

Death enters man. . .
The limits of man:
Thirty years of growth;
Thirty years of decay;
Thirty years in between;
So death and life reproduce themselves.

He who would prolong his life
Will not meet tigers or rhinoceros in the wilds,
Nor soldiers in battle
So the rhinoceros finds no place in him for its horn,
The tiger no place for its claw,
The soldier no place for a weapon;
So death finds no place to enter his life.

thank you river for the link to help people see more of the story.... I've been sent so much on the dictator Mugabe from the people who live there, or who visited, invested, and love Zimbabwe. He and Than Shwe in Burma seem nearly interchangable.

dr.e
