So, to be clear Elrod, your position is that the Liberal party, with 25% of the seats and which LOST almost 20% if their seats, by making coalitions with opposing parties that do not share many of their interests (other than wanting to be in power), best represents 'the will of the people of Canada', against the party with 46% of the seats and which had a GAIN over 12% in seats?

The 'people' INCREASED the Conservative lead, but you are telling us that is actually a rejection of the Conservatives by the voters.

You have been reading Animal Farm lately, I take it.

Stephen Harper didn't seem to believe in the "will of the people" back when he supported the idea of a coalition government in 2004 (in cooperation with the NDP and the BLOC). Harper's a complete hypocrite.

<http://blog.macleans.ca/2008/11/28/a-trip-down-...>

Guess things look a bit different when you're on the other side of the aisle, eh?

Austin,
The will of the people, as expressed through a majority, led to nothing. The Conservatives got 46% of the seats and needed 4% more to form a government; in Canada a majority, not a plurality, is necessary to govern. It was up to the non-Tories to decide that would continue along with the status quo and they decided not to. This is hardly against the will of the people.
