More whining from the small-minority-sealed-off-from-the-real-world vantage point. I have been hearing much the same on the road today here in Detroit metro, even from "conservatives."

The companies have been hemmorhaging billions of dollars month after month. Where were the changes that _already_ should have been made to cease this months ago, before ever thinking of a bailout?

Where was the plan for converting the companies into serious, viable companies, that should have been written and submitted to Congress weeks to months before coming before Congress for a bailout?

People claiming "heartlessness" by Congress are _dishonest_. EVEN DEMOCRATS WHO WOULD RUSH TO DO A BAILOUT IN THE TIME-DISHONORED LOSER-VOTE-BUYING MANNER WERE PUZZLED TO OFFENDED WHY DETROIT DIDN'T BOTHER TO ENGAGE IN THE MOST BASIC, MINIMAL, OBVIOUS STEPS EVERYONE WITH AN IQ ABOVE FIFTY KNEW SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE ALREADY.

What we see from the far Left, the entitlement-child crowd, the insular, inbred, arrogant, "We" are "the" industry Detroit crowd, is outright delusion.

No wonder they have failed to correct their problems after nearly thirty years following the impending failure of Chrysler.

They are likely to fail, and if any party were, they _deserve_ to fail. They whine dishonestly and childishly about "hate" but the critics are, as usual, correct, and kinder than they really need to be.

There's talk of a caravan, from Detroit to Washington. Or rather, there isn't now. Instead, it a stupid stunt, a "virtual caravan" to be set up on the Web. (Perhaps they're worried that Detroit vehicles might break down while on the road and they can't risk the embarrassment?) That's not only a stupid gimmick that will impress nobody, but it shows another example of empty-headed thinking. Not only people here in Detroit but all over the nation (to illustrate the size of the work force and the geographical spread) could drive to Washington (complete with "embedded" journalists, again, _if_ they were intelligent). Who could drive? Who is available currently? Maybe all those UAW men and women in the JOBS bank, who currently are being overpaid to do _nothing_? Might some of them have thought of driving from Detroit and elsewhere to Washington, effectively being paid to do it, and likely to be given cars and trucks to drive by the UAW if not by the Detroit Three? And one stupid "reason" that people say they don't want to drive to Washington now (and engage in that stupid play-pen "virtual caravan" stunt instead) is that security for the Obama inauguration means they can't drive all the way to the Capitol. Have they not thought of driving up to the road blocks, and then getting out and walking to the Capitol and the White House, for that matter, in timeless UAW fashion, carrying picket signs?

That would require an IQ of fifty or above, and the willingness actually to do what was previously been talked about, and these Island of Detroit people are unable or unwilling to do it.

It's one more pathetic reality, unlike how the cartoon dishonestly depicts things.

Meanwhile, in the real world, the CEOs (and Gettelfinger?) return to Washington next week. The overall economy and threat of deflation is the most important news issue currently, and the impending failure of the Detroit Three is next most important (because of taxpayer involvement in any bailout now and in the future, as well as possible effective creation of American Leyland). The news continues.

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/bailout-watch-...

[note something timely here]

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/bailout-watch-...

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/does-detroit-h...

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/customer-care/

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/editorial-gene...

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/editorial-gm-d...

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/bailout-watch-...

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/bailout-watch-...

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/bailout-watch-...

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/qotd-what-does...

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/detroit-auto-s...
