As a friend of Richardson's for 31 years, and as a New Mexican who likes this Governor and everything he has accomplished as our Chief Executive, I can say clearly that 2 million New Mexicans will miss him as governor, especially me, as I often spoke with him at his Press Conferences. He would still make a fine Secretary of State, in due course; keep the faith: Richardson will still be around, and with yet another Cabinet post under his belt, be ready for higher office. His international acumen and experience will vitalize a position that is frequently Dead on Arrival. Hillary's Hawkish tendencies alarm me, but she will be more in line with Obama's conciliatory vantagepoint than she was as First Lady and as Senator. Andrew Cuomo seems like the best and most logical replacement for her, in my humble opinion...

New Mexico has done well in this recent election, now that for the first time in 40 years our Congressional Delegation is all Democratic, and this is in large part to the efforts of both Obama and Richardson! There are seven New Mexico state senators, Democrats, who are new to the chamber, including some major replacements of Republican obstructionists. Already a progressive Senate, it is even more so now, by a quantum leap.

Best wishes for William Blaine Richardson III in his new position as Commerce Secretary. MIracles will be expected of Obama's Cabinet, and Richardson will be able to deliver great results, I am sure.

Clinton's administration looked more moderate because it spent the last six years with Republicans in control of Congress and those Republicans were not about to fund any of Clinton's pet projects. Now that the DEmocrats control everything, I think people will realize that Clinton's staff were more liberal than past actions indicate.
