Joe The Plumber Gets A Book Deal

Or did he? And what does it say about the state of publishing, writing — and journalism? Details and thoughts here.

[sigh] It's about celebrity culture, scummy attacks by the Left, and money that can still be made. Dispassionate analysis (missing, sadly, too often) would lead one to consider the nature of the publisher and how it may be related to other books aimed at the range of people from mainstream social conservatives to the true, small Far Right. (books from little-known or unknown publishers, cheaply written -- example: "From My Cold, Dead Fingers: Why America Needs Guns!" that discusses, if I recall, adding a new "eleventh [!]amendment" to the Constitution for some purpose I don't recall)

Good for him! Maybe his sales will stimulate the economy. All those National Enquirer type believers and readers can graduate to reading an actual book.

Palin and Joe the Plumber get book deals, but who will ghost write the drivel? Many intellectual conservatives turned to Obama for his temperament and intellect. I doubt the larisons andBrookes will enjoy the likes of Palin and Plumber.

He should really write a pamphlet- that's about as much content as he'll be able to squeeze from his 15 minutes of fame. One thing really bugs me is the way we make celebrities out of nobodies--- with no real talent for anything. Sanjaya, Paris Hilton, Sarah Palin, the Geico cavemen, William Hung-- Joe the Plumber, etc etc.

So, now you can tell your kids if you are in the right place at the right time you will be successful- never mind hard work, perservance, character or advanced education.
