False trichotomy. Clinton News Network, Clearly Not Neutral remains liberal, as are the other networks and sources, that make Fox's frequent appeals to the non-liberal market stand out as heretical. MSNBC has simply decided to exploit the liberalism in the media and stand out more. (Olbermann is bad -- my very liberal friend in DC loathes him -- but Rachel Maddow is good.)

More interesting is the progress in the past two years (especially this Obama campaign year) that leftist talk radio (which is often far left, MSNBC level or even more so, into true radicalism) has made and to the extent that that phenomenon isn't just an Obama swoon but an indication of a true rise of the Left out of loserdom as well as a sewer definitely since 1980. (Prior to 2-3 years ago, leftist talk radio was a laughable, ridiculous failure, not only because of discreditation of the far Left which still stands, but because of the poor quality of the people and their behavior on the air. There has been some improvement with some people since then. Not much, but it matters.)

Limbaugh is doing acceptably well, and if anything has been revitalized with the Dem successes in Washington. (I considered it risky to foolish for the party that gave Limbaugh his enormous long-term contract to have done that when Limbaugh's show might have finally dimmed and extinguished itself in the next few years, but he's done well, largely because he's still the best showman on righty radio. Hannity is simply too loud and I don't even bother listening to the other righties; I prefer listening to lefty radio a lot when I'm on the road just to hear America described by aliens in an alternative universe, heh, heh.) (Actually, once in a while they do say something good.)

It's fine the way it is. Hardball is my favorite show. O'Reilly is totally partisan, and Hannity is an outright liar. People are free to be stupid enough to get their analysis from the engineer of the worst Presidency's in history (Karl Rove) and the pathetic race-baiting campaign of Hillary Clinton (Howard Wolfson) and an anemic pathetic liberal who allows himself to be anally raped by his conservative co-host (Alan Colmes). People are free to be as stupid as they want.

I think that the only real network with a problem is CNN. They have a personality gap. They have only one decent show: Anderson Cooper 360. Cambell Brown is a total idiot. They need someone with more charisma in their evening broadcast.
