The big problem with Matthews is that he gets tired of being on the sidelines and sometimes ends up making himself the center of controversy. Maybe he thinks thats the way to a ratings bonanza-- but he was frequently out of line in his coverage of Clinton's campaign and female viewers haven't forgotten.

my sentiments exactly kritt11. But apparently Matthews isn't the only one who isn't all that warm to Obama tapping Hillary:

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1108/15703...

From the article:

"These are people who believe in this stuff more than Barack himself does," said a Democrat close to Obama's campaign. "These guys didn't put together a campaign in order to turn the government over to the Clintons."

From the article:

“These are people who believe in this stuff more than Barack himself does,” said a Democrat close to Obama's campaign. “These guys didn't put together a campaign in order to turn the government over to the Clintons.”

Matthews has a big mouth and often speaks without the use of his brain.

He is hopelessly naive if he thinks that Obama can just ignore the power that the Clintons still represent in the party, country and on the international scene. Also, I'm sure they didn't campaign for him because they though Malia and Sasha deserved a cute puppy!

Matthews thought that Obama would end politics as usual- but if he did he would have ended up like Jimmy Carter- Matthews ex- boss- isolated from the power players in his own party. Carter didn't fail because of opposition from the congressional GOP- but because of opposition from his own party- led by Ted Kennedy, who wanted the 1980
presidential nomination.

Obama is showing us he's a realist- who wants powerful people in his administration who can get things done. If he leaves Hillary in the Senate, she's still a potential rival. I think Mr. Hardball is still hoping the man in the white hat will ride in and save the day without getting down in the mud with the movers and the shakers.
