I agree with JSpencer.

Lieberman's made his choices, presumably, on principle.

There is nothing petty about principle.

So, on the very same principle, he ought to embrace the consequences of his choices.

And really, wouldn't it be in his own long-term best interests for him to do that? He could continue to act and vote on his principles, siding with Republicans or Democrats as his conscience dictates. He could prove himself a man of principle.

Unless he's just a phony.

"Petty"? Give me a break. The guy made his own choices. They have this concept called "personal responsibility" you know? I think Lieberman is ready to have this defined for him.

Worst case scenario: Lieberman has no party. Lieberman may be a Foreign policy hawk, but the republicans still call him a liberal, so they'll only use him for National security if the Democrats shun him. The last thing the Republicans need is to become even more liberalized (as per talk radio). Caucusing with Republicans is an option, but his voice won't be heard often.

Removing Joseph Lieberman from the Chairmanship of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee would be an act of extreme pettiness, unbefitting the new political environment which President-elect Obama wishes to create. Why should Senator Lieberman be punished for supporting his close friend, John McCain, in the presdiential election? Loyalty and friendship are virtues to be desired, not disparaged. Let Joe Stay!
Letjoestay.blogspot.com
