Good Gawd freenschemes... reread my comment. The "National Security Force" I mentioned was the U.S. National Guard.

It seems like Mr. Bush, in his great wisdom, stripped OUR country of it's time honored "National Security Force" and it seems that Mr. Obama is thinking about putting them back where they belong.

Your "thugs, and paramilitary groups running around as vigilantees in our streets" comment is a good example of the fear card mentality I referred to earlier AND has absolutely nothing to do with any "National Security Force" proposed.

As opposed to the gestapo like civilian security force called the conjoined National Guard and NYPD with their DHS embroidered patches? You mean those guys?

( kidding, I have family on the job- but seeing bunches cops clustered about Penn Station like a pack of teenagers, on a daily basis gives me no confidence should something disasterous break out )

We used to have a civilian security force- it was called the Militia.

“Mission Accomplished” – Military Spending cut / National Security Force in place WITHOUT THE NEED to scare the America public. Why is it that the right doesn't seem to think anything can be accomplished without playing the fear card.

So are many things that are not wanted, needed and infringe upon our liberties. I am all for cutting the military budget. I am not for cutting it simply to have a bunch of thugs, and paramilitary groups running around as vigilantees in our streets. Good Gawd people. I thought the far left valued freedoms above all. Now your willing to submit to a land full of paramilitary organizations.

The funny thing is, I think I know what Obama's aiming for, and we have something like it in Georgia. The “Georgia State Defense Force” is a civilian organization that has a sightly paramilitary organization, and their job is to supplement the National Guard when bad things happen. It's totally constitutional, and 24 other states and Puerto Rico have similar groups. In other words, Congressman Broun is getting all worked up over nothing. Boy, he really makes Georgia look good.

After we pull out of Iraq:
a) Military Spending would be cut $120 billion ($10B x 12) AND
b) The National Guard would be home... doing the job they were hired to do.
