RNC Launches New Website: “Republicans For A Reason”

At a time when a fierce debate has begun within the Republican party about what Republicanism is and what it should be as the party heads into the 21st century seriously downsized after last week’s elections, the RNC has launched a new website called “Republicans For A Reason.”

You can go to the website here.

And here’s the RNC email on the website:

WASHINGTON – The Republican National Committee (RNC) today launched a new Web site, “RepublicanForAReason.com.” The site offers users the opportunity to discuss their reasons for being a member of the Grand Old Party and what being a Republican means to them. The format is similar to that of the RNC’s ground-breaking Platform Web site, which was launched in the run-up to the 2008 Republican National Convention as a way for every Party member to offer their ideas and insight toward our Platform. In the same vein, Party members can offer their opinion of where the Party is headed and how we can be better prepared for the future.

“We are a party of principles and must regain our voice,” said RNC Chairman Robert M. “Mike” Duncan. “We need to hear what our volunteers, activists, elected leaders, and party members think about the Republican Party as we rebuild, re-focus, and renew our bond with the American people.”

It’s a smart move….if party bigwigs use it to help adapt the GOP to the new political circumstances. The “traditionalists” (whose highest profile members include Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh) insist the party shouldn’t change or adapt but remain wedded to the same approaches in terms of content (far right) and campaign practices (the use of characterization and demonization instead of positive arguments to convince voters they have the best and most practical policies). Some would argue that’s a recipe for continued electoral disaster.

No one expects any party to totally reshape itself based on opinions left on a website. But the GOP’s long range future can’t rely on waiting for the Democrats and Barack Obama to overreach. This will give the party some feedback on how to — at the very least — regain Republicans who either stayed home on election day or voted for Obama. And what it’ll take to start offering a more affirmative message.

These two hacks aren't traditionalists, they're radio hacks more concerned with radio ratings and their own careers. I doubt they really believe half of what they say. Just like Buchanan's job as token paleoconservative on MSNBC. Pat's analysis on MSNBC isn't anything like his written analysis at AmCon.

As a minority and a registered member of the Republican Party, I am appalled at the attacks and trashing of Governor Palin by the same coward gray hair Republican male, who has attempt to used us minorities and women as hookers and slaves every election.

The lady was brought down from Alaska to do job for the GOP which in my opinion did very well considering her lack of experience on the national political stage. She did do a colossal job in rallying our political party’s base when Senator McCain’s campaign was dead in the water.

Since the beginning of attacks by the so called anonymous cowards, against the governor, not one single person from the party’s leadership, to include RNC Chairman, Senator John McCain, President of the United States, or the so-called conservatives TV and Radio talk show hosts, who has permissible hijack the Republican party for the sloe purpose of peddling their racist and hateful agenda, has step forward to apologize or thank Governor Palin for her efforts.

Which leads me and other Republican minorities to assume, if Governor Palin who is a white American female can be treated that way by her own party, how will this same party treat Blacks, Latinos, and other minorities in the future?

Governor Plain many thanks for a job well done!! Please keep in mind you don’t have run as a Republican to be elected President of the United States. Let’s all re-registered as independents and take back our country in 2012.

In response to RNC launches a new website…..
The RNC really needs to clean up the mess before they market a new website. This just proves that their priorities are so off base. I see a bunch of old guys beating each other for a microphone, but none really has anything to say. Someone needs to sit in a room and come up with a viable plan and strategy to rebuild a horribly shrinking, almost obsolete party. A new website won't attract the Republicans who jumped ship and voted for Obama. A new website won't attract independents. A new site says more about the state of the party than the direction of the party.
Let's get of the cross and really listen to the people. Let's stop these stupid attacks on Pelosi and Obama and all the “other guys” and get our own act together. Then we can come out with a new RNC and GOP and really rebuild the party.
