One Word: WOW!

I voted for Bob Barr. I gave my reasons. I stand by my reasons. But I have to say it. As a black man. As an American…

WOW!

I’m still having a hard time digesting this win for Barack Hussein Obama; I mean President-Elect Barack Hussein Obama. WOW! I just got off the phone with my grandparents. It wasn’t much of a conversation. Just many tears and exclamations on how great America is. My parents, former Black Panthers, who said many times that “white people will never vote for a black person as President” while in their Black Panther garb in those turbulent 1960s, now sit in their living rooms, with robes on, saying that they were so, so wrong about America.

I really can’t say much more. I’m a little tongue-tied and emotional about this. I may have problems with some of Obama’s proposed policies, but I’m so, so proud of what he has accomplished in this great nation of ours. I’ll just end things in the words my father has said to me during moments of accomplishment:

Brother, ya done good…

Not even defeated conservatives can dispute the fact that Obama is the embodiment of the American dream- from a childhood of single-parenthood and food stamps to the oval office- WOW!

T-Steel, yes, WOW! All of America (across class, race, gender, political affiliation, etc.) voted for Obama. We are trusting him, someone who was "once a skinny kid with a strange sounding name" with our dreams and hopes. I certainly am trusting Obama with my future and that of the country I love.
