I'm amazed by the incredible amount of public interest in Sarah Palin. Good or bad, she's become somewhat of a pop icon. People are dressing like her to be and/or mock her all at the same time.

Interesting article. Relevantly, as many influential experts and publications have repeatedly pointed out, Obama and Palin are part of Generation Jones, born 1954-1965, between the Boomers and Xers.

Here's a recent 5 minute GenJones video which features many top pundits (including David Brooks, Clarence Page, Dick Morris, Juan Williams, Karen Tumulty, Howard Wolfson, Michael Barone, etc.) specifically talking about Obama and Palin's membership in Generation Jones, as well as the surprisingly big role that GenJones is now playing in this election:

Voting in Virginia today, a woman was standing outside the polling place, handing out “key issue guides” to people entering the polls, and which purported to show the candidates' positions on topics of major importance. The “issues” were grouped into three categories: Homosexuality, Sanctity of Life, and Other (which mostly included gun rights-related issues). I think it's safe to say that the cultural issues discussed above will remain part of future elections.
