CNN News Plans Hologram Projections In Election Night Coverage

On Election Night, all networks bring you voting projections. This year CNN will be bring you news-maker and correspondent projections. Literally. By hologram.

According to TV Newser,
CNN will be projecting three dimensional images into news central:

Adding to what promises to be one of the most technologically advanced events in CNN’s 28-year history, CNN will enhance interviews with remote correspondents and guests using hologram projection. The network has built sets powered by hologram technology at both campaign headquarters making it possible to project three-dimensional images into the Election Center. From the New York set, anchors will exhibit more natural conversations with newsmakers and CNN correspondents in the field by interacting in real time with their 3-D virtual images.

This technology is likely to catch on and other networks will want to do it, too.

But is even hologram technology enough to make Fox News’ Sean Hannity and MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann more than one dimensional?

ABOVE PHOTO apparently shows CNN’s Wolf Blitzer with an unidentified CNN staffer talking to a hologram of Rick Sanchez.

If they can do a hologram of Vladimir Putin rearing his head into Alaskan airspace, count me in.

In addition to being repelled by the gimmickry, I wonder how many of the networks will go to "simulations" or pre-enactments of the news, namely the election turning out early according to their wishes ("Obama has won! Obama has won!" [dancing on the set]).
