Thanks DLS. Caudill's “Night in the Cumberlands” is a bit dated but is a classic in agenda- writing. Mountaintop removal is more a problem in KY, VA and WV than in TN. The big issue here is drought and air pollution.

Tomorrow after my class gets out at 2pm I'll be going with the family on a short hike in the mountains. The leaves are amazing this time.

Look at the bright side. At least this late in the year the Winnebagos are off the highways through those Smokies and Cumberlands and other great places. Even in Dollywood at Pigeon Forge, heh, heh. (I used to escape to the mountains — not to Pigeon Forge — when I lived in Atlanta. For those who understand, when I lived in St. Louis, I went to the Ozarks but _not_ to Branson.)

And Elrod, if you want populist-lefty material, read Caudill's books sometime.

And everybody — if you truly don't like the Republicans and the status quo, well, y'all know what people and party to vote for instead.
