No mystery here, Dr. E, and no Election Day surprise is in the offing.

Members of the Religious Right have to eat and make car payments just like the rest of us. As deeply committed as they are to their core issues (anti-abortion, anti-gay rights and so on), they have been marginalized by their party and by the economy. All of their Anti Crap just isn't playing when the war to keep one's head above water is more important than the culture wars.

In the final analysis, the vote of the Religious Right will mean little and, in fact, a discernible number of its members will stay home compared to the number who could have voted.

Sh............ be quiet, Dr.E.................you might wake the sleeping giant. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the fundamentalist religious right decided to take a short nap and a squirrel from Justicia-land placed a teaspoon of dessicated toad tale in their hot milk nightcap; a formula known to bring on sleep for as much as 7 days at a time.

No need though, actually, they would not have chosen the un-tortured Navy pilot with the tortured look and professional skirt chaser as their messiah. Maybe with a guarantee of his suddenly being eaten alive by melanoma and a Palin presidency...........no, no, drink the juice.
