Variety:

Insiders confirm that ABC offered to sell the campaign the 8 p.m. slot, where it has already purchased time from NBC, CBS, Fox and Univision. But the Obama camp passed.

That means ABC will run an original episode of “Pushing Daisies,” as planned. (The CW also wasn’t part of the buy, and will run its normally scheduled show, “America’s Next Top Model.”)

Alphabet could see a ratings boost for the struggling “Daisies” as a result, now that the show will serve as counterprogramming for viewers not interested in the Obama informercial.

TVSquad expects a ratings bonanza for Pushing Daisies:

And all the new viewers will probably lean politically to the right. To clinch it, they should have Bill O’Reilly as a guest star that night.

NBC lists the Obama ad on its website as an “all-new” episode of “Barack Obama: American Stories”.

Did ABC offend Obama? I mean, they bought Fox time, but not ABC? What is the untold story there, I wonder.

Not at all AR… just 'cause you've got it doesn't mean you have to spend it. A preview of the Barack Obama's ability to practice fiscal restraint.

  3. Rambie says:

Does seem weird they'd skip ABC.

There was a contract/scheduling dispute with ABC. It had nothing to do with politics or “offending” anybody.
