Sadie Fields of the Georgia Christian Alliance is in charge of turning out conservative Christians for the McCain/Palin ticket in Georgia. Over the weekend she put out this message which she urged conservative Christians to print out and distribute at church.
A short excerpt:
While we have failed in many ways to preserve the vision of our Founders, if Obama is elected their vision of this wonderful “experiment in ordered liberty” will truly disappear. He will be aided and abetted in his pursuit of socialism by the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, William Ayers – an unrepentant terrorist – and Pastor Jeremiah Wright – a blatant racist who said from his pulpit “God d_ America.” [...]
If Obama wins the Democrats will be in control of all three chambers. There will be no “check and balance” as the Founders intended. Obama and others he will put in positions of power will bring about a liberal tsunami that will sweep this nation clean of any pretense of a free and sovereign nation. The dream of many Americans to make their lives better through hard work and perseverance will be just that – a dream.
The damage done under an Obama regime will be undoable in years to come.
Combine a President Obama, a Democrat-controlled Congress, and appointments to the U.S. Supreme Court — the country I grew up in will be no more.
Redistribution of the wealth, same sex marriage, universal health care, gun control, and every other off-the-wall, socialistic idea will become reality.
Tom in comments, aware that Sadie is estranged from her lesbian daughter, “Yes, if only we would all adopt Sadie’s world view we could all have the same happy, loving, close knit families that she has.”
Joe,
I think that perhaps TMV overall is underestimating the panic that is setting in among the Christian Right. I know some otherwise very reasonable people who are very, very frightened. They are convinced Obama is a marxist, a muslim, and a closet terrorist. These are not insane skin-heads, but everyday people. They do, however, get ALL their news from Fox. Oy.
Still, I think TMV would be better off if they took a closer look at panic on the Christian Right.
I remember when Bush was elected and the Republicans were rejoicing and telling us what a wonderful thing it was that The Republicans were in charge, the “adults” were back in the White House.
Well that was a total failure. The Republicans are reaping what they sowed and they just can't believe it.
I hope Obama wins, but I do not put it past Republicans to lie and cheat their way into the WHite House AGAIN!!!!!
Bringing in Sadie Field's gay daughter is not a response to Field's concerns. It's merely a red herring, a clever non-response. The question is: Will a President Obama tilt our country leftward? A better comeback to Fields might be to say: “Fields is right. We will track left under a President Obama, and that's a good thing, for the following reasons.” Now, I would likely disagree that a leftward shift is a good thing, being myself right of center, but at least then we'd have a legitimate debate and not some distracting and irrelevant comments about Field's family life. But that's probably too much to hope for in a polarized atmosphere eight days before an election.

Your language of “lying” and “cheating” are verbal hand grenades, shattering any chance for dialogue between those of differing persuasions. How will such ill-considered choice of words help bring about the national unity Sen. Obama talks so much about? Can't we do better than that on TMV?
jdave said: “I know some otherwise very reasonable people who are very, very frightened. They are convinced Obama is a marxist, a muslim, and a closet terrorist. These are not insane skin-heads, but everyday people.”
The fact that very reasonable people believe that strongly that Obama is a Marxist, Muslim, and closet terrorist shows that line of attack/accusation has worked (although very false in my book). Which is why all this talk about Obama leading here and there is nonsense. There's a 50/50 chance Obama will win. Why not higher? Because there are enough reasonable people that believe in the Marxist, Muslim, Terrorist theory (combined with folks who may not believe that but support McCain) to make this race too close to call.
The Republicans deserve these nuts. Keep praying that Schiavo says “I wanna live” ands go to the Creation Museum on the 6000 year oldf earth. And the fanatic Muslims are crazy …
“Combine a President Obama, a Democrat-controlled Congress, and appointments to the U.S. Supreme Court — the country I grew up in will be no more.”
Yeah it would be damn shame to lose that white-entitledist, segragationist, anti-immigrant whitebread gingham picket fence world where the wife dutifully mixes pipe smoking dad a gin and tonic and brings him slippers as he reads the sports page…never mind the real world. I thought this mentality died out with McCarthy- why didn't we hang the bastard for treason??????
jdave – good God. “They do, however, get ALL their news from Fox.” Yes, that is right. Fox news leads nightly with accusations that Obama is a Muslim and a terrorist, and a child molester as well. They are the sole source of all anti-Obama rumors and innuendo.
Reality check time. Anyone that believes he is Muslim, or a terrorist, or a Marxist (as compared to a closet socialist, which has much more traction based on his own speeches and words, but that is beside the point) is NOT getting that from the MSM, not even the evil Fox network.
They are getting it from the usual source of stupid and fully debunked rumors – word of mouth, spam mailings and emails, etc. Plus, they choose to believe that crap in the face of indisputable contrary evidence. That makes them self-ignorant everyday people, who are grasping for reasons to mask their true objections, whether it is he is black, has a funny name, has an academic background, or whatever.
The country I grew up in (I'm 62) is no more after Reagan and two Bushs. I remember a country that had a strong economy driven by a strong middle class(customers).
Did you perhaps see James Dobson's..um…interesting prediction of what the US will be like in 2012? Heh, you stay classy, Jimmy!
Austin: Dude! I did not say that they got their craziest ideas from Fox. We probably agree here: believing rumors and anything they read on the web that reinforces their unspoken objections, etc. What I meant to imply (poorly it seems) I will now make explicit: anyone who thinks Fox is legit, is not likely to exercise good objective analysis.
Gotta agree with Ron- but the most noticeable change came after the 8 years of Bush 43— so Sadie-since 9/11, the country you grew up in has been no more!
Yes lets go back to this, “separate but equal” schools and Real Loving
“anyone who thinks Fox is legit, is not likely to exercise good objective analysis'
Got to disagree with that one, to. Anyone who is de-legitimizing Fox, which has an admittedly right slant to their coverage, is letting their own bias show. It is the same people (seems that includes you) who claiming the other news channels are not left-leaning at all; they are fully objective.
For myself, I honestly cannot remember the last time I sat down and watched the news. That is what my computer is for (and BTW, CNN is my default home page, and I counterbalance it (and TMV) with Instapundit and Drudge (no wisecracks there, either. There is not a newsroom in the US that doesn't have reporters and writers checking Drudge out).

AR,
No other major US news outlet comes close to the systemic bias at Fox News. On MSNBC, for every hour of Maddow or Olbermann, you get 1.5 hours of Joe Scarborough. On CNN you've got the odious Glenn Beck. The broadcast networks are nothing but conventional wisdom amplifiers.
But on Fox News, everyone – besides Alan Colmes – is a conservative. The president of Fox News, Roger Ailes, is a notorious conservative propaganda guru who worked for Nixon, Reagan, Bush and Giuliani.
And over 90% of the other network's staff contribute exclusivly to the Left, the Democrats, and Obama. To argue that the other networks are in the tank for Obama is just silly.
I see nothing wrong, bwt, with biased press. It has always really been that way throughout history, except for a short period where they have pretended to be unbiased.
Let them stay biased – just admit it! But in the arrogance of the Left, they truly believe that their viewpoint is the only valid one, and therefore Left-leaning news is 'balanced'.
And the Left does not like nor tolerate dissenting points of views. Look at the academic speech rules and attitudes towards Right-leaning speakers on campuses around the country.
wake me up when Nov 4th is over, lol.
Already, registered voters in Georgia, who have been documented citizen voters have been purged from the rolls, and to add insult got sent notice to the fact postmarked after the deadline to submit proof of citizenship. Not neccessarily illegal, but shenanigans nonetheless.
I'm not a big fan of Ayn Rand's books, but this entire situation reminds me of the end of Atlas Shrugged. Basically the bad guys have run such horrible policies for so long under the mistaken belief that the system can run on pure BS that it is all finally catching up to them. The bad guys actually have to face the fact their way of running things just doesn't work, and even in the face of incontrovertible proof to verify. Except instead of evil liberals undermining the world's conservatives the shoe is on the other foot.
Anyone who thinks neocons still have even a shred of a clue how to run this country, please raise your hand. I put mine down back in 2001.
LOL I just read that fictional letter from 2012. If that doesn't just sum up conservative worldview in a nutshell I don't know what does. I've saved it so we can bring it out 4 years from now and laugh at it. Every paranoid nightmare the right can dream up is on that one, and this is the problem with their political philosophy. It has only tenuous connection with the real world, more of an endless list of shadows to jump at so the power players can make the base dance to whatever tune they are playing that day. The scary thing is that pure fantasy like this is gospel for many voters.
AustinRoth,
You are breath of fresh air here… thanks for your posts.
“And the Left does not like nor tolerate dissenting points of views. Look at the academic speech rules and attitudes towards Right-leaning speakers on campuses around the country.”
Just get ready for more of this. Now that Democrats have actual, y'know, power, the black helicopters have begun to circle all of our houses again.
People, this is why you should be against sweeping stuff like the Patriot Act. Period. Does anyone on the Right feel safe and secure now that The Glorious and Ascended Worker's Great Leader can listen to your voicemail? I thought not.
And the pendulum swings…
Austin: I agree that MSM is biased left. You argue as if that justifies Fox outright lying that they are fair and unbalanced. I'd like to see a counterbalance for the MSM, but Fox is terrible. People could go to Douthat, or Larisen, or Dreher, or…. but they aren't on TV.
Oh, and I've seen more than a few people who's thinking ability has been utterly ruined by Limbaugh, O'Rielley, et al. It is very, very sad. You might argue that people are ruined by the MSM too, but that doesn't make Fox right.
And the other MSM doesn't lie for the left?
Rathergate. Palin's daughter is really her grandchild. And so on. one person's lie is another's 'overaggressive' reporting. The truth is ALL of the MSM, left and right, have been heading towards more and more direct advocacy. I still say there is nothing wrong with this, but it has to be acknowledged and admitted is all.
Anyway, as I said before, the MSM (which Fox is part of) just isn't part of my daily life, and many other people I know. They are slowly (or not so slowing) dying in front of our eyes. Of course, my circle is admittedly skewed towards technically oriented people.
As for the Rush comment, anyone that listens to him for other than the amusement factor (similar to the reason to listen to Stern) probably wasn't a bright bulb to begin with, so not sure how much Rush could do to reduce their political IQ.
