Book Review: Christina Thompson’s ‘Come On Shore And We Will Kill And Eat You All’ »
This little boy is missing. He is the the seven-year-old son of Julia Balfour, sister of movie actress Jennifer Hudson who was Academy-Award-nominated for her role as one of the Supremes.
The missing little boy’s name is Julian King, and he has vanished since his grandmother and uncle (Julia Balfour’s and Jennifer’s Hudson’s mother and brother) were murdered on the south side of Chicago two days ago.
The south side of Chicago is notorious for having deteriorated into a deeply violent and crime-ridden area for the last many decades, and though the neighbors heard the gunshots that killed Darnell (grandmother) and Jason (uncle, age 29), no one called the police… as some explained… ‘gunfire is so common here’
Regardless of details of the murders, this little guy is innocent, and here at TMV we pray he will be found safe and whole, very soon.
If you have any information about or have made a sighting of this child, call 911 stat. The little boy’s nickname is Tugga-bear.

CODA. There are over 10,000 little children missing in the US at any given time. They usually cannot fend for nor free themselves without someone else recognizing them and intervening. To help, please Google ‘missing children’ for your home state and take a look at the pictures there. Many children are found not too far from the places of their disappearances. If there are missing children in your area, you may spot them.
Hello Doc.
I logged on right before I hit the sack last night and read your blog.
I did pray for the little guy to be found and for him to be in good health.
When I logged on tonight, one of the top news stories listed was one about little Julian being found in the back of a SUV, dead.
Violence is always a horrid and pointless way in which to deal with an issue ..
but when a person hurts or kills a wee child there is a palatable evil that makes itself known..
Sometimes I think that the people yelling, “It is a mistake to discount EVIL as a mental disorder! It IS a spiritual illness and we're fools to not recognize it for what it is!,” are correct.
That, in fact, the devil walks amongst us unfettered and unrecognized because we refuse to acknowledge the reality of him in our desperate attempt to make science the beginning and end of all things.
I wonder if we could have both….
Scientific knowledge WITH spiritual wisdom (or guided by …)…
Personally, I believe in evolution….I believe in stem cell research …I believe in Quantum Physics …Global warming…
I'm very “logical” and was raised (after 8th grade) with a public school education etc..
But I don't think the two (science and spirituality) are mutually exclusive …
I don't believe that to be aware and educated in the sciences means that you cannot be deeply spiritual and have a relationship with your God/s.
I'm reminded of this every time a child is hurt or killed like this …
There is something more than just human rage and stupidity at work here….
I don't know how else to explain or understand the wanton killing or harm of a child.
I have no answers (obviously) …
But when something like this occurs, I'm devastated and trying desperately to understand how it could have happened…
I continue to pray for Julian and for his family…
Julian is fine now. It's we, left behind, who will hurt for him…
but I want him to know he is in my thoughts and that I care care about what happened to him.
Just my two cents worth.
Ghost
“There is something more than just human rage and stupidity at work here….” I'd agree dear Ghostdreams that therecan be other dimensions to such acts. Lack of conscience appears to be one of the centers of many hideous that we reel back from and cannot grasp– the abject inhumanity of such acts… It is often, however, difficult to speak of evil without some falling into irrational superstition, and some going to the other extreme and discounting the inquiry before it even begins.
I keep hope that we can, as you did here, begin the inquiry, ask the questions aloud… and continue it. I have a sense that what many call mental disorder has, as you mentioned, many layers to it, some organic, some psychological and spiritual as a result. Just my observations as a post trauma specialist, seeing so much mayhem up close.
I too fell back in my chair when I saw the newswire saying the body of little Julian had been found. I am glad his body was found but beyond sad that this little guy is no longer with his mother. We can pray for her especially Gd.
