The Blame Vote (Cartoon)

In our media soaked world, it’s amazing how complex issues are turned into simplistic stories. “Simplifying” doesn’t describe it enough. Our news stories are abstracted and truncated. They are shrunk down and then blown up. They become huge fuzzy images, losing all detail.

As a cartoonist, I admit this is exactly what I do. And I don’t need a 24 hour news network to achieve it.

These huge fuzzy stories take on a life of their own. Facts and truths are replaced by popular myths. They’re easy to believe in because a shade of truth is there. But if you stop and examine the myths, they sure do sound silly. One such myth is the subject for this week’s cartoon.
