Ah, after reading around, I see now what the issue is in some circles with the Joe the Plumber conversation. Obama said at some point, “spreading the wealth”. And so everyone who's already inclined to think Obama a socialist hears “take money from the rich and give to the poor”. However, if you don't already think Obama's a socialist, you hear “everyone deserves a chance to build wealth and in order to give a tax cut to the little guy, I have to increase it some on the big guy.”

Anyway, back to work.

I missed the debate so I don't know yet how Joe came up, but didn't Obama handle that conversation really well?

Well, at least in bringing up “Joe”, McCain didn't have to sneak a peak at a bracelet to remember his name.
