A truthful cartoon would have Obama grinning if he thought nobody was watching.

The economy has likely propelled Obama into office. (And no, the Dems are not cheering about this, the way you'd ordinarily expect them to, as with problems in Iraq, say.)

Because, as you well know, Obama would inherit this huge mess that Bush has left for the next administration if he were to win. And it would be hard enough to govern a divided country in good times– but in uncertain and bad times it takes someone like Teddy Roosevelt, FDR or Churchill. Whoever gets in will be a one-term president, as the 50% who lost, and the beltway punditry tear into him.

Honestly- I don't even understand why so many Dems and Reps wanted the nomination so badly. I feel sorry for the victor. I guess they can blame the loss of our stability and prosperity all on Bush for the next 4 -8 years.

Yeah, it's pretty crazy, a joke like W inherits a country that's on it's feet, and a decent contender like Obama inherits a wreck. Apparently the lord works in mysterious ways.

  4. kritt11 says:

JS- And they still blamed Clinton for almost every problem that W had. Well, I can't wait to type— “But Bush did it too”! Wonder what Poppy Bush thinks of him now???
