The Secret Service Is On The Case

The Secret Service is investigating another one of those “kill him” threats directed against Barack Obama at a Sarah Palin rally, threats that some of her supporters claim are figments of the media’s imagination.

The latest incident occurred yesterday at the Riverfront Sports Complex in Scranton, Pennsylvania, as a local politician warmed up the crowd for John McCain’s running mate, whose inflammatory remarks about Obama and audience baiting have become the hallmark of the most dismal half of the sorriest presidential campaign in memory.

Palin, as befits a person of her smallness, has said or done nothing to try to discourage this behavior.

  • Oh no, how disappointed Joe Biden must be in fellow Scrantonites (Scrantonians? Scrantoners??) She's just plain goading crowds now to soley get Joe pulling his hair plugs out.

“…threats that some of her supporters claim are figments of the media’s imagination.”

So, I suppose those supporters are omniscient if they know everything that goes on in a rally that has thousands of people?

StockBoy -- didn't you see the recording? I mean, I guess you could watch the footage and deny the truth by putting your fingers in your ears at the right moment...

These "kill him" sort of comments need to be followed up very aggressively. The absolute last thing we need in this country is to have a highly popular, inspirational, black presidential candidate assassinated. Think this is far-fetched? Think about our history of assassinations and attempted assassinations. The shite would hit the fan.

LOL! I'm nmot denying anything... my remark was meant to show that even so-called "eyewitnesses" in those rallies couldn't possibly hear everything.... Given the commotion that goes on in large rallies the only people who could possbly know whether somehting was said would have to be omniscient.... I truly believe that those people didn't hear any of those remarks... but that doesn't meant that those remarks weren't said.

Although the Secret Service is obviously doing the right thing in investigating these claims, I do hope that any journalists who might be 'mishearing' (no, I can't prove it, but if this continues then we'll have a pattern of reporters being the ONLY ones in crowds who are hearing these threats) will consider that making phony claims isn't cool- like calling 911 on false pretenses.
