To me, Balz sounds just plain bored because there's nothing substantive coming out from the McCain camp and we've heard, hashed and rehashed every Obama sound bite, speech and plan to minutiae. He's a much more interesting candidate than McCain and is such a collected & together candidate that everyone can't wait to see what he'll be like as President (some with trembling glee, others with xenophobic McCarthy-istic paranoid fear.)

Balz seriously sounds like someone who was twirling around in his office chair trying to think up something relevant to write and went with "I sure wish we knew more about how Obama would be like in office!" and ran with it, half-cocked and harebrained.

Who in their right mind is going to be arrogant enough to answer those sorts of questions, ever? Politicians all say the same thing -- look at my record, look at my speeches, look at my ratings with XYZ advocacy group... and then they fall back to their talking points and snazzy phrases they think will catch voters attentions and sway their vote in their favor. That guy's gonna raise taxes, I'm gonna lower 'em! That guy's a liar, I'm practically a saint! That guy's too young/old, I've got experience/I'm pure as the driven snow!

What a strange election. These journalists all need a good long vacation, I think this 1.5+ year-long election stuff makes them all loopy.

This isn't the first time Balz has flung something out there absent any real meaning. I guess once your well established you can just hope people will overlook those particular moments and think your making sense - even if you're not.
